This site is completely Flash based. The entire site has been built as one template which dynamically loads the content of the other pages based on the users clicks. Each page has a loading screen which displays the progress of the page being loaded to allow the user an estimate of how long the page will take to load. On a fast connection this does not make a difference as the load times are less then 2 sec. However on a slower machine or dial up connection this provides comfort that the site is being loaded.
Burton Media was in charge of all design for this site with the exception of the company logo. The layout, images, content have all been added and updated by us.
Hidden on the back end is a dealership page that allows for the Client to contact dealers of his product. The pricelist for registered dealers is different from that of a customer walking in and so the client needed a way that the dealers only could access that pricelist.
This project is currently being reviewed for an upgrade which will allow for full interactivity as well as a database that can be updated by the client. It will also allow for him to add side pages for dealers as they come on board. Development phase for this project is scheduled for early 2009.
This client is an art dealer based out of Calgary Alberta who wanted the ability to display and sell their art online. Burton Media was tasked to create a database with a web interface that allows the client to add, modify, edit or delete entries. As well as a content managed section of the site that will allow the client to make updates on their own.
The administration page is password protected linked through a database. On the administration page the client is be able to add categories (which will be instantly reflected on the home page) as well as manage their art database. The gallery will display an image, the title, description as well as have two links. One is a dynamically created 'Buy Now' button which goes to paypal and allows the customer to purchase the art via credit card or paypal account. The other button brings up an e-mail form which will be sent to the client expressing the customer's interest in the piece. This double functionality assures that both those comfortable and those uncomfortable with making purchases online have the means to purchase the art, and also allows direct contact with the artists for questioning.
The database structure (database and table names have been changed for privacy/security reasons) consists of several tables:
The Gallery Table: Contains all information about product including the Item ID, category(related to category table), Artist ID(related to artist table), Date created, price, image(URL), Description and isActive(whether or not the item should be displayed).
The Category Table: A lookup table for the categories each category has an ID which is related to the category ID in the Gallery table.
The Artist Table: This table contains artist bio�s as well as an artist ID which is related to the artist ID in the Gallery Table.
The News Table: This table contains the information that is displayed on the right news column of the site.
The functionality is all programmed in Coldfusion.
This site was created for the Nose Creek Watershed Partnership. Graphics were designed by Drew Foster. All CSS, HTML and Javascript was installed by Burton Media. This page does not use any server side language other than a PHP script for the contact form. Burton Media setup the Javascript menu as well as the PHP form. Burton Media was in charge of taking Drews design and cutting it up into CSS and HTML and making it easy to enter content. All sections of site are surrounded by comments and instructions within the code so that anyone could go in and with copy and paste add move, remove any of the side bars, making the site very versatile.
Jesse Burton Owner - Burton Media maintains the website for the City of Airdrie. Early in 2008 the site went through a complete rebuild changing the sites dated code from a Tables to a CSS layout. The idea was to make the change without impacting the look of the site. This was accomplished and has now aloud for many additions to the site.
We are currently in review of the sites navigation to improve upon it and make it easier to use.
Many additions are planned including moving away from the current content management system into a custom built application, as well as a complete Human Resources Management application.
Vote Blake was a site which had a lifespan of the campaign for Blake Richards who successfully became the conservative representative for the Wild Rose Constituency.
This site included a blog with database connection that allowed Blake to provide up todate information to his supporters throughout the campaign. It also allowed the supporters to signup for the newsletter which was mailed out with blog updates.
The City of Airdrie conducts their Annual Municiple Census online as of 2007. Burton Media was involved in the initial development, and has since taken on the project to increase functionality and to provide a design that is consistent with the City of Airdrie's visual identity.
The Census application provides a secure (SSL) site to take in information with a unique address based pin system to allow each resident to be counted individually.
On the backend the Census Administration page allows the City Clerks Unit to provide enumerators with a mailout of address's and pins for the residents. It also allows them to get live statistics and data based on the input.
This year the Census has also gone mobile. Enumerators have a separate login which allows them to record data on wireless tablets as they go around to the addresses that have not been filled in online.

Burton Media developed a database search profile which allowed users to enter all or even part of a persons first name, last name or department into one search box. The results returned pictures and details based on the search query. The unique part of this application is that there is only one search box which intelligently selects data based on the input.
